This standard describes a procedure for determining the composition by mass of feather and down materials by manual sorting.

Principle -- A specimen of known mass representative of the material to be tested is manually sorted. The separation of the various components present in the mixture is based on macroscopic and at times microscopic analysis. The mass of each component is determined and expressed as a percentage of the total mass of the specimen.
